So... we have a new car but it's white. How boring. Both kids said "we don't want the white car. can't we get a blue one or a green one or any colour besides white?"
This was my answer:
"Actually, the car isn't really white. You see, in 2006, when they were making this model, the car factory wanted to try out a new experimental paint - sort of like a rainbow paint which changed colours with the car's temperature. If the sun hit it, it would appear a golden red, in the rain, it would be sort of yellows and greens and in the winter, it would be blues and purples - depending on where you're standing. Well anyway, something went wrong with the paint after they'd applied it to many of the cars and it wasn't working properly. So instead of ditching the entire 2006 model, they painted them white - which as you know, covers everything. So really, it's not 'technically' a white car. It's rainbow beneath. You can even scratch a bit of the white paint off, say at the bottom of the bumper and you can see the rainbow paint. But I wouldn't scratch the paint off if I were you. Dad will get mad if you scratch the new car."
Both children were silent as I told them this. Pensive and thoughtful. Pondering and thinking. I looked at my son and said "Bazinga!!"
Neither one laughed or said anything else so I let it go. Then, a few days later, I said to M - "I think A believed me about the rainbow paint. Isn't that cute." M absorbed this news then said to me the next day,
"I believed you, mum!!! I told all my friends about our 'rainbow' car. They thought it was awesome. How could you! I'll never believe a word you say again."
My response:
"Honey! I'm a writer. I make stuff up. It's what I do!" (nod to Castle S2)
A didn't have much of a reaction, except to shake his head at me.
Their dad and I thought it all quite hilarious that even as teenagers, we can still pull the wool over their eyes.
They fell for one of my classic bazingas!

So simple, yet so funny
Why is it when someone puts their jumper on backwards, it's funny? Something so small and so simple and yet A has done this several times recently. It's because his jumper is already inside out and he gets it the wrong way around when he puts his head in. Still, as it's a V-necked jumper, to see him looking all "clerical collar" with the rounded back at the front and the V going down his back still makes me chuckle.

A day never goes by...
Well this is it, Lil. I've done the blog as you have suggested as never a day goes by that my kids don't make me feel all one million emotions. Frustration, anger, happiness, sadness, joy, love, annoyance, peace, calm and occassionally, disappointment.
I'll start off by saying that my two incredible teens are just that - incredible. We're very close, which given normal teenagers, is actually abnormal. They're both highly intelligent and I love spending time with them. They often surprise me with their deep-seated care for each other even though they argue. Then again, I've often said that siblings should be the best of enemies as well as the best of friends. With only 20 months between them, sometimes you get the friends/enemies thing coming out in the same sentence of complaint.
"I love him but he's annoying."
"She's great and all but I just wish she wouldn't do that."
M - is a 15 year old girl.
A - is a 13 year old boy.
This is my form of high procrastination. I'm supposed to be working... and instead I'm doing what Lili told me to do. Why do I listen to her?
Today, though, A has made me laugh with his visual acting and interpreting of Billy Joel's "Piano Man". I threatened to film him and put it on YouTube and it didn't stop him one bit. He looked at me as though daring me to get the camera!
Well, if anything else funny/weird happens today, I'll let y'all know.

(I'll try to remember to post the number of times I've asked A to lower his volume)
It's 3:00pm and today's count is up to 7.
